Depending on your status in Canada and the vehicle origination, the required documentation for importing a car from Canada to the USA will vary.

IMPORTING CANADIAN VEHICLES AS A CANADIAN CITIZEN
**or any other citizenship with work permit in the US
1. Letter of compliance from US Manufacturer – must be admissible (if not admissible MUST have changes done prior to entering the US)
2. United States Department of Transportation (DOT) – Importations of Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Equipment form
3. United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – Importation of Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Subject to Federal Air Pollution Regulations
4. Bill of sale – optional (should have but not required)
5. US Customs and Border Protection -7501 Form
6. Registration
IMPORTING CANADIAN VEHICLES AS A US CITIZEN (vehicle purchased in Canada while on a work visa)
1. Letter of compliance
