Moving home can be one of the busiest and most stressful times in anybody’s life, but there are a few basic packing tips to keep in mind that will make packing your precious belongings that little bit easier. Firstly, you should ensure you have sturdy packing boxes in the correct sizes for your belongings to guarantee they are safe in transit. If you choose QMM as your Port Barrie movers, we provide you with the most reliable and robust, industry-approved moving boxes.
In-keeping with using high-quality boxes, you should wrap any glass or fragile items in appropriate packing materials such as bubble wrap, and label the boxes as fragile. Our Toronto movers will know to take extra care with your fragile belongings to avoid any broken or damaged items during the move.
To make sure the unloading of your boxes is as effortless as possible, we advise that you pack similar items together and clearly label the outside of each carton with the contents inside and also what room the box should be sent to.
The first few days in your new home can often be a state of organised chaos – no furniture, belongings packed away, boxes covering the floor; it can all get a bit confusing. It will be extremely useful for you to pack an essentials bag or box of items you will need as soon as you arrive at your new destination or even better, for the first couple of days. It will help reduce any unnecessary stress during your move to Port Barrie if you have easy access to items such as clothes, soap, toothbrush, toilet paper and other essentials (kettle and tea bags) that you might need in the first day.

“Excellent service! We moved from Ontario to British Columbia. After 41 years in our house it was a daunting task but QMM was so helpful. From initial contact to final drop off they provided great communication, advice and professional service. They arrived on time to load and showed great respect for our possessions. We were given a range of dates for final delivery which is understandable for a cross country move and we could track the progress. They arrived in the range of time and communicated the date and time of delivery when they were in British Columbia so again great communication. The unloading was slowed by a malfunction of the condo freight elevator but the crew work through it with patience and again great care for our possessions. Finally the price they initially quoted and final invoice was within $100 so you can rely on the quote accuracy. Special thanks to Lorraine and Spencer and crews Pauline, Nick, Alex and Mike amazing people to work with! “
” We wanted to take a moment to express our sincerest gratitude for the outstanding service and professionalism you’ve provided. From the very beginning, it was evident that Spencer and the team is truly customer-oriented, going above and beyond to ensure satisfaction at every step. Your dedication to excellence and attention to detail have made my experience truly remarkable. It’s rare to come across a team that not only meets but exceeds expectations with such consistency. QMM. set a benchmark for professionalism in customer service, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you. “
” My experience from the moment I first reached out for a quote, to the movers arriving across the country with our household goods was very smooth and pleasant! Bradley Ulrich was super helpful getting our booking and preferred dates for the move arranged, and Lorraine Baird was in touch frequently to facilitate a smooth move and was always available to answer any questions we had along the way. The team of movers we had on both ends (Ontario and Alberta) were very friendly, upbeat, and efficient. I would certainly recommend QMM to anyone moving cross-country in the future!! Thank you! “
“Everything went exactly as I was told it would. I was kept informed from beginning to end. There were no surprises and no delays or damage. Everyone with whom I came in contact was courteous and respectful as well as informative, knowledgeable and accommodating. I would be happy to recommend this group for short or long distance moves, mine having been a long distance. “
“Everything was fantastic. We can’t thank you enough! Great communication, very professional & nothing was broken. Thank you for everything. “
” Everything arrived and it was fantastic using your company from start to finish – would highly recommend. Both gentlemen who came to pack my things were phenomenal! They were efficient, polite, and fantastic to work with. Please let them know how pleased I was with the friendly and professional service they provided – would work with any of you again in a heartbeat. Thank you a million times again for making this so easy. “

“With respect to the movers, please pass my thank you on to the two men who packed and loaded in Calgary; they were great guys and got everything done as fast as they could. I would use them again in a heartbeat! As well, the second mover who delivered my belongings in Vancouver was fantastic. He’s such a hard worker and was very considerate. Please pass my thank you on to him as well, if possible. “
“QMM was definitely the right decision for my move, the team was very helpful as well as professional and met every expectation from packing my household goods to loading, moving and storing them. Thank you guys for all your patience and exceptional service. “
“Outstanding company and outstanding employees. Our move was difficult in that we were moving into an old building in old Quebec City with a narrow staircase and we are on the 3rd and 4th floor. This did not bother them one bit. I would hire them again without hesitation. Well done! “
“I just wanted to thank you and your team for my move. Nathan and Renee were fabulous. They have a great memory of what items were in each box and it allowed me to retrieve certain items out of the boxes before reloading them into the storage unit. They had great personalities as well – they sure kept us laughing! Renee also backed up the truck in a super tight space. So impressive. These guys were very accommodating and helped us so much. I will absolutely recommend QMM in the future to anyone looking to move. “
“I just wanted to reiterate that Doug and his crew were great today. Doug was here promptly at 8:30, and he was friendly, professional, and communicative throughout the day. His team was very efficient and finished packing all our items around 1 PM, which was great and faster than we expected. Overall, it all was very easy on our end and we are totally satisfied with the packing and loading experience today. “
“Great service throughout. John was attentive to our every need and bent over backwards to accommodate our logistics. I really appreciated the consideration afforded in working around us and particularly towards observing social distancing and cleanliness. I have used QMM on 3 occasions in the past 9 years and have no hesitation in recommending their quality and service. “
“We want to express our gratefulness for the smooth transition from Fort McMurray to Hinton. The team was amazing and professional, we could not ask for more. Mike and his team went above and beyond to ensure that the process was smooth and stress-free, they ensured that all our requests were completed efficiently. They did everything humanly possible to settle us into our new place and left us comfortable. Again thanks for sending this amazing team to help us and we are looking forward to having these same persons coming to move us the next time should the need arise. “
“The experience was excellent mostly because you made it so! You are very easy to work with and you’re very attentive and took care of all our needs. We appreciate you very much! And we look forward to getting your help when the day comes when my husband will be moving home. Many thanks for making my move home perfect and uneventful! “
“They were very helpful, very understanding, helped make some decisions and everybody was just very patient, kind and polite. A top-notch, excellent crew! Gord let me know that they would be arriving in San Diego around May 26, which is awesome! I had prepared myself for the worst-case scenario, so with that information was able to leave more on the Van and less with me. So super happy with everything today and would highly recommend Gord & his wife, Monica, and his packing/loading crew to anyone moving within North America! I wish them swift and safe travels and look forward to seeing them in San Diego. Of course, you have been the fabulous coordinator that helped us put this all together so a big “thank you” to you! “
“John was assigned by QMM to move my family and I from Kansas City to Ottawa this spring. He was extremely personable to work with and had a sincere desire to take care of our needs. Always prompt and a good communicator, John kept us updated on the evolving nature of our move (during COVID), and if he didn’t know the answer, he quickly leveraged his points of contact to keep us updated and informed. The teams he hired were also quite efficient and he supervised them well ensuring our furniture and effects were well taken care of. Overall, John is a great guy, works hard, and cares about his customers. This was my fifth move with the Canadian Armed Forces, and it was by far, the best move I have ever experienced. I would certainly recommend him to anyone. “
“Thank you so much, we had the easiest relocation in our life. Definitely will keep your contact details for our next move, and recommend your service to anyone relocating. Everything went well and far better than we could have hoped for. “
“The movers were better than I could have hoped for. The packers and loaders were outstanding, I don’t think they stopped all day. There was nothing we asked of them that they did not do. OUTSTANDING. The driver, Kerry, was better than excellent. Very friendly and very professional, we could not have asked for anyone better. The unpackers… These were great guys and very hard working. I don’t think the word NO is in their vocabulary. All in all, EVERYTHING was on time, professional and so much more than we could have hoped for. QMM truly made this move fun and event-free – this is one time where dull is a very good thing. “
